Nashville Dentistry Co. is committed to improving the lives of patients of all ages by providing predictable, evidence based comprehensive dentistry and delivering the highest level of patient care in a modern facility. Overall patient experience was stressed in all aspects of design to reflect a compassionate, judgement-free approach in comfort and style exceeding our patient's expectations. Design and construction decisions were tailored to create an efficient work flow that benefited an expanding patient base and a growing number of team members.
Design Criteria: Design Summary
Design Criteria: Dental Technology
Nashville Dentistry Co. employs technology to reflect our vision to our patients through seamless integration of front office, clinical treatment systems, mobile connectivity, and hardware with data protection. Each treatment room comes equipped with an Apple computer, Samsung television built into the ceiling, wireless Beats headphones (with their own sanitary covers), an intra-oral camera, and an iPad with a built in wall charger. The iPads have the capablilty of mirroring any image onto the screen on the ceiling, allowing patients to choose from Netflix or YouTube TV. They help educate patients of their dental needs as they are able to view X-rays and intraoral pictures directly from their patient chart. Our Pelton & Crane dental chairs have integrated massage technology. The office is equipped with CEREC CAD/CAM technology and a 3D Sirona Orthophos SL allowing patients to have digital impressions, same day crowns (milling unit), and CT guided implant surgery all within our office. As the office grows and technology changes, our office is equipped for the technology of tomorrow and will continue to stay at the forefront of its advances.
Design Criteria: Dental Equipment
Nashville Dentistry Co. is a startup practice with all brand new equipment ranging from the 3D Sirona Orthophos SL to the CEREC CAD/CAM with zirconia milling. The storage of dental equipment and its ease of usage was important in the design of the facility. Our sterilization center is state of the art and exceeds CDC guidelines with the use of a Hydrim G4, Scican Bravo autoclave, and a built in Vista Pure filtration water system. Each treatment room comes equipped with Helios LED lights and Kavo electric handpieces/motors, which enables us to see clearly and adjust RPM levels to ensure patient comfort. Nitrous oxide is available in every treatment room with its lines hidden below the floor and the tanks being stored in a centralized location. Cavitrons are built into the hygiene units allowing for more counter space. In addition, our hygiene department has access to a Nikon BioScan Phase Contrast Video Microscope to educate patients on their oral bacteria. The mechanical parts of the office are located on our mezzanine floor in a sound-proofed mechanical room. It houses our water-less vacuum pump with space for additional pumps as we grow. Future upgrades consist of equipping the final 3 rooms and adding additional autoclaves.
Design Criteria: Ergonomics
We carefully designed a floor plan to focus on ergonomics. Rear-delivery ensures four handed dentistry occurs between the dentist and other team members. Pelton & Crane narrow back dental chairs with integrated massage technology allows the patient to be positioned without straining the doctors’ posture as well as patient comfort. The patient chairs have dual touch pads minimizing unnecessary movements. Every computer comes equipped with a wireless keypad, wireless mouse, and large display monitor but with HIPAA privacy considerations. Cabinetry allows team members to reach items efficiently without leaving the treatment room. Our office provides seating options for team members as well. They can choose from a saddle-style stool or a lumbar support chair depending on their individual needs.
Design Criteria: Aesthetics
Nashville Dentistry Co. strives to provide a comfortable and relaxing environment to our patients while giving them the highest standard of dental care. From the initial design visit, we were insistent on creating a consistent and stylish office that was different than any office out there and we firmly believe we have achieved that. Throughout the office, you will find high end artwork, murals, and equipment but what you won't find is a standard dental office. We have worked hard to provide our patients with an environment that gives them a sense of comfort and ease. Our patients notice the attention to detail and have consistently raved on the design concepts of our office. Our slogan "A SMILE IS THE PRETTIEST THING YOU CAN WEAR" and that everywhere they look, from the mural on the wall to the patient bags, it is reiterated. From the massage chairs to the Samsung televisions with the ability to watch their favorite shows, acoustic issues were addressed by using sound attention batt, acoustic ceiling tiles with sound absorption, and vinyl flooring with a higher noise reduction coefficient.
Design Advice: Dental Technology
Don't be afraid to ask people who have been through the process for advice. There is always a solution to any problem that can arise before and after construction. Timelines are always changing; just be patient and flexible. Plan for future growth and make each space your own.
