We are a team of talented professionals who strive to bring a fun filled, comfortable environment to our patients and to produce beautiful smiles and memorable experiences. The majority of the patients seen by Drs. Wang and Kwong are children and teenagers, but Dr. Kwong treats adults as well. We wanted an office that would be modern in design, fun for the kids and still cater towards the adult patients.
Design Criteria: Design Summary
The top design would be the wide open bay in the treatment area where patients do not feel confined to a closed room. We also like the circular entry door to our office as we wanted to keep some Asian designs on the exterior. Being a fully digital office would be our main technology feature.
Design Criteria: Dental Technology
We are a fully digital office including patient information, accounts, treatment notes and treatment plans as well as xrays. Our central server is utilized and backed up on a daily basis both locally and offsite. In the future we may have an automatic check in system at the front desk.
Design Criteria: Dental Equipment
We have fully automatic dental chairs at every unit and each room has a unique color to add to the vibrant office. We used the movable dental carts in the orthodontic rooms and open bay so its very easy to move around and accommodate all different patients. For the 2 private operatories we have over the patient delivery systems and assistant table behind. We would like to add a new quieter central vacuum in the near future.
Design Criteria: Ergonomics
Our front office is very spacious and open. It is very easy for patients to check in and out. For the operatories in the back we have 1 computer for each unit stationed behind the patient for easy doctor access. For the open bay we have 2 floating laptops on movable stands which float between each unit as needed.
Design Criteria: Aesthetics
We wanted to have a modern feel to our office yet be bright and colorful to attract the children in our practice. Our staff has matching uniforms in the back and are business casual in the front. All are staff are courteous and we pride ourselves in excellent customer service. We also decided to have a round entry door to symbolize some Asian themes. The one downfall is that we have high ceilings so there are areas of high echo. We have placed sound panels throughout the office, but will need more to deaden the sound.
Design Advice: Dental Technology
First find a location that you can see yourself in 20 years and has good traffic flow. The next important thing is to hire the right people to make your life easier. For example, we hired a contractor who has built many dental offices and was very easy to work with. The contractor is the quarterback for an excellent office.
